Winterfest 2007 to Benefit Kent Food Bank A Holly Jolly Day in Kent, Washington

(PRLEAP.COM) Kent, Washington, November 9, 2007 – Kent Downtown Partnership (KDP) and area merchants announced today that this year’s Winterfest celebration will benefit the Kent Food Bank. Scheduled for Saturday, December 1 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Winterfest 2007 – A Holly Jolly Day in Kent will feature a waffle breakfast at Maggie’s on Meeker, a one-mile Holly Jolly walk guided by The Balanced Athlete, a pet walk, tractor rides, local entertainment, horse drawn carriage rides, children’s story-telling, holiday shopping and more. This year’s event promises to draw a large crowd from Kent and the surrounding areas.

The day-long event will feature holiday favorites including a visit from Santa, his traditional bike giveaway and the annual tree light ceremony. In addition, Winterfest 2007 will offer activities and attractions to bring families to downtown Kent including the Seattle Thunderbirds Mascot Cool Bird, Seattle Mariner’s Moose and ED the Emerald Downs Mascot, Northwest Trek and Pt. Defiance Zoo & Aquarium, Pacific Science Center and more. The event is free to the public, but families are encouraged to share their Holly Jolly spirit by bringing food donations to Winterfest to benefit the Kent Food Bank.

"The annual Winterfest celebration for downtown Kent has been a longstanding tradition for the city. This year’s festivities promise to be the most fun and exciting ever,” Farrington Court’s Nick Glenn, Winterfest chairman, said. “What a great opportunity to bring your family downtown or to meet up with friends. Come be a part of the fun on December 1st!"

Winterfest 2007 will take place in the Kent Historic District through Kent Station to Kent Commons which is holding its annual two-day Kent Parks Holiday Bazaar on Friday and Saturday. Horse drawn carriages and rickshaws will provide transportation among the different venues.

Winterfest 2007 is being presented by Auburn Regional Medical Center and sponsored by BECU, Kent Station, Columbia Bank, Kent Reporter, Venture Bank, Sea-Tac Sweeping, MultiCare, Venture Bank, Kent MultiService Center, Farrington Court and Renaissance Yarns.
