Jesus Name Tabernacle Featured in Clarion Ledger
(
PRLEAP.COM) Florence, MS - August 22, 2008 – Pastor Jean Holland of Jesus Name Tabernacle was recently profiled in the Clarion Ledger for being a matriarch to churchgoers. The daily newspaper delivers information on local news, opinion, sports, entertainment, community and classifieds.
In the article titled "Pastor a matriarch after 30 years," staff writer Jean Gordon discussed how Holland has led churchgoers at the Pentecostal church for 30 years. "Single with no children, she’s become a matriarch to churchgoers who treat her more like a mother or grandmother than a pastor," wrote Gordon. ‘"This is my family. This is my life," Holland said in the article.
At the age of 10, Holland began her preaching career under an overhang on the side of a small building where her mother did laundry. Today, Holland is one of two women in Miss. who serve as a senior pastor of a United Pentecostal Church International-associated congregation. She has also mentored 30 preachers, 20 of whom work at her church.
‘"She can make you feel like she loves you more than anyone else in that room,"’ Minister Joel Martin said in the article. "But everyone else in that room feels that way."’
