ACOM Consulting Group Offers Compliance, Profitability Guide for Chiropractic Offices: "Practice Scorecard" Free for Limited Time
(
PRLEAP.COM) JACKSONVILLE, Florida, October 28, 2008 – Doctors who may be fearful of audits and potential paybacks or who may simply feel that their practices are not as efficient or productive as they should be now have a new service at their disposal in the form of a Practice Scorecard offer from the Healthcare Business Division of ACOM Solutions, Inc.
According to Division Vice President Gregory T. Church, the service is being offered free of charge through December 31, 2008, after which it will be priced at $369.00. The service focuses on practices that are collecting $150,000 or more annually, of which 50 percent is derived from major medical or personal injury cases. Cash-oriented practices do not apply since they are subject to different conditions than practices oriented toward third party payers, he said.
To take advantage of the service, doctors first request the scorecard from ACOM and then enter practice information on patient visits, collections and CPT code usage for a current three-month period. They submit this information to ACOM along with a representative patient file. An ACOM Certified Professional Coder examines the information and patient file to determine if the coding supports the documentation and to assess the practice’s levels of effectiveness in the three areas of analysis:
billing and collections, documentation, and audit exposure.
"In effect, the Scorecard allows doctors to self-rate their practice performance," Church said. "Certified professional coders interpret the information and send them a results report that displays their performance level on a color-coded scale of 1-to-10, ranked against Federal Medicare and State guidelines. Finally, the findings are reviewed with the doctor in a half-hour online session."
According to Church, the process identifies doctors’ vulnerabilities and exposes what they need to fix, providing the perspective of an outside expert looking in.
"Our objective report may or may not involve a recommendation that the doctor engage our
chiropractic consulting services," he said. "It depends entirely on the circumstances. We go through the report element-by-element to show what is happening in the practice and why. In some cases, that will indicate a need for an extended consulting relationship. In others, we can point out what they need to do, tell them how to go about it and wish them well."
Doctors who wish to take advantage of the free offer should immediately contact Regional Manager Terri Amador; email
tamador@acom.com, or call 866-286-5315, extension 604.
